Washington Catholic Elementary has received a Four Star School designation from the Indiana Department of Education.  It’s the first time the school has received  a Four Star Ranking.

Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz announced the 4 star schools this week.  They are schools that are in the top 25th percentile in 2 categories based on ISTEP testing.  Also schools must have a grade of “A” from the state and be accredited.  Washington Catholic was one of 281 schools receiving  a Four Star status.

Meanwhile, Barr Reeve Elementary and the Middle High Schools got a Four Star recognition as well.  It’s the sixth time the elementary has been named Four Star and it’s the 16th time for the middle high school.

Other schools in the region getting Four Star ratings were Gibson Southern High School and Sullivan High School.  Several in Dubois County received the designation and they were Ireland Elementary, Pine Ridge Elementary in Birdseye, Ferdinand Elementary, Cedar Crest Intermediate in Huntingburg, Holland Elementary and Holy Family School and Precious Blood School in Jasper.
