Buddy Gene Somers of Martinsville went to his heavenly home at 8:30 am Thursday April 23, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital, Mooresville.
Born Sept. 29, 1937, in Evansville, he was the son of Walter P. and Bertha N. (Nesler) Somers.
He was a 1956 graduate of Francis Joseph Reitz High School and served in the U.S Navy. He worked as a steel machinist and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lutheran’s Society of Gentleman and Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by three sons; John (Maryann) Somers, Brian (Sherry) Somers, and Todd (Jennifer) Somers; a daughter, Jeanne (Mark) Plock; seven grandchildren, Andrew Plock, Sarah Somers, Jeff Scott, Amanda Scott, Joseph Somers and Owen Somers; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Gregg and Piper Plock; a sister, Alice Lois Kahre; a brother, Walter P. Somers.
His wife Karen Sue Somers, whom he married Nov. 18, 1961, died May 25, 2008. Also deceased is a brother, Tom Somers.
The funeral will be at 1 pm Wednesday April 29, 2015 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with Rev. George Qualley officiating. Visitation is from noon to 1 pm Wednesday at the church.
