Carl J. “Bud” Seidel, 83, of Washington, passed away Wednesday at 1:39 p.m. at Daviess Community Hospital.

He was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Daviess County, to John and Julia (Cullivan) Seidel.

He was educated in the Washington Catholic schools. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.

Carl was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a recipient of the Brute Award from the Diocese of Evansville.

He was employed at McCord Corporation for 22 years, Plainville Machine Shop for 10 years and Old National Bank for 15 years.

Surviving are his wife, Mona (Holland) Seidel, of Washington, whom he married June 15, 1957; two grandsons, Adam Schleicher of Bloomington and Erik Schleicher of Vincennes; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deidra (Seidel) Schleicher; his parents; five sisters, Camilla Rayhill, Grace Coleman, Catherine Garner, Magdaline Zigler, and Ann Colvin; and four brothers, Joseph Seidel, John Seidel, Jim Seidel, and Jerry Seidel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. John’s Cemetery with full military rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW. There will be a a wake service at 3:30 p.m. K of C will lead the rosary at 7 p.m.
