Ralph “Butch” Eugene Withrow, 67, of Washington, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday at his residence with his daughter by his side, after he battled cancer since June 2014.

He was born Aug. 28, 1947, in Indianapolis, to Eva (Medsker) and Charles Withrow.

Butch was a 1967 Washington High School graduate. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.

He worked for the City of Washington Street Department for 30 years and was a city street commissioner for a few years.

His hobbies included fishing, playing cards, hiking, collecting buttons and antiques. He loved shopping in antique stores and auctions. He was known to always be there for family and friends before himself.

Butch is survived by daughter Gloria (Jeff) Houchin; grandchildren David (Brittany) Wininger, Dereck (Celeste) Wininger, Dillon (Julie) Wininger; stepgrandchildren, Aaron Houchin, Terry Houchin, Brandon Houchin and Jasmine Houchin; great-grandchildren Desiree’ Wininger, Skyler Wininger, Keegan Wininger, Hunter Wininger, Conner Wininger, Micah Wininger, Mason Houchin, AJ Houchin, Lucy Houchin and Zach Houchin; special friends Robert and Peggy Bolin; and his beloved dog, Cleatus.

Preceding him in death were both parents; stepfather, Robert Sullivan; and two infant brothers who died at birth.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Ed Lee Mortuary, with Rev. James Downs officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
