Mary E. Fitzgerald, 78, of Washington, passed away Wednesday at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington.

She was born in Veale Township, Daviess County, to the late Arthur and Ethel (Adams) Evans, Oct. 26, 1936. She married Kenny “Spike” Fitzgerald on March 15, 1957, and he survives.

 Mary was a member of Mt. Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Washington. She graduated from Washington High School and was employed by Kixmiller Accounting for several years and later as a self-employed accountant. She was a member of Country Ladies Homemakers Club, past matron of Glendale Eastern Star, WRVAA, and was a Girl Scout leader.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane and husband Jeff Armes of Patoka, and Pam and husband Steve Bartlett of Washington; grandchildren Morgan Gammons of Patoka, Marcus and Marcie Armes of Patoka, and Hannah and Earl Emerick of Lafayette. There are three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel United Methodist South Campus in Washington. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist South Campus and Saturday one hour prior to service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hadi Shrine Transportation Fund in Evansville.
