County Council hears update on CASA

The Daviess County Council met with a light agenda Wednesday morning.

The first order of business was to appoint Councilman Mike Myers to replace the late Jack Graber on the Daviess County Solid Waste Board.

Next the Council heard from Judge Gregg Smith reporting on the Court Appointed Special Advocate program.  Smith told the Council that the program gives children a voice in court proceedings and saves the county money over special attorney fees.  The Council approved the Judge’s request for a transfer of $10,000 from the General Fund to the CASA fund.

In other business, the Council approved additional appropriations of $20,000 for engineer overtime and $394,117 for Phase 2 utility work on the Odon-Cannelburg Road project.  Both amounts are 80% reimbursable from a federal grant.  The Council also approved the expenditure of $28,352 fly the Health Department for vaccines.  The money is generated by fees collected by the Immunization Program.
