At the regular meeting…the council passed three resolutions.  The first resolution began the process to annex land owned by the City west of the sanitation plant.  The resolution also allows the City administration to negotiate with the Indiana Municipal Power Agency about developing a Solar Energy facility on the property.   The second resolution began the application process for a $350,000 grant to improve owner occupied housing.

The third resolution was the result of not needing a municipal election this year.  The Council had set Election Day as a paid vacation day for city employees.  Following past practice, with no election, City offices will be open but employees will be granted a “floating” vacation day.

Mayor Wellman reported that the City and County were proceeding with negotiations with INDOT to purchase the I-69 construction office and property.  The Mayor told the Council that the City would be reimbursed by the Economic Development Foundation.  The foundation would then be able to use the property for economic development.

After approval by Washington’s Board of Public Works and Safety, Bill Dobson Ford and Washington Chrysler were each awarded contracts for four new police vehicles.   The Board also approved final change orders for the VanTrees Street water project.  The change orders resulted in a decrease of nearly $27,600 from the estimated price of the projects.
